When the temperature of the pool is too low to dive you can do a Static Test of the Main Drain line which uses the weight of the water in the pool.

Isolate the Main Drain line and induce Nitrogen into the line.  When the Main Drain begins bubbling cut off the Nitrogen for 60 seconds to two minutes then induce Nitrogen.  If bubbles come out of the Main Drain immediately the Main Drain line is holding pressure and there is no leak.  If bubbles do not come out immediately then there is a leak in the Main Drain line.

Typical PSI for Nitrogen is between 5-10 pounds depending on the length of the line.

Water level for pools should be around the midpoint of the Skimmer face plate.

Induce Dye where fittings and transitions are put together especially where caulk seems to be missing or cracking.

Put tip of Dye Needle on transitions and squeeze a small amount of Dye.  Use Telescoping Mirror if area being tested is difficult to get a line of sight.  If Dye pulls (dye moves with the water into a crack or crevice) water is leaking from that area.

Extension Rings re added to skimmer to have top of skimmer flush with ground.  They do not create water-tight seals.
