This Flying J was unique. There is a former RV park on the back side of the property that was completely taken over by trees and grass. The staff were helpful, however, they were unaware of the RV park. The travel center has its own sewer treatment plant that was not discussed during the original call to get the leak detection scheduled. And, and even though there were 100 semis parked over the 400 ft line that supplied water to the treatment plant we were able to find the 1 gallon per minute issue on that line.

The 22 gallon per minute leak was not on the main line as indicated by the maintenance manager. It is on an unknown line, possibly a line running to the sewer treatment plant. We believe we have it located. However, the 100 plus semis drowned out all sound to confirm.

We will schedule with Flying J to install a hose bib on the 2-inch branch line that we suspect, so we can pressure test to confirm the leak location.

Shower 3.

The shower valve does not shut off completely, causing a drip.

Around about 100th of a gallon a minute.

In the mechanical room there is the  main valve to the whole store.


The Secondary meter is for outside hose dibs.

With a winterization tag on it.


It is showing usage with no water being used at pumps with the valve off, the meter stops also.

This valve appears to be controlling the biggest leak on property with a winterization tag that has been taken off.

possibly what has happened is that it wasn't properly winterized and something has frozen and caused a break in the line.


But as you can hear, the valve takes water and large amount of water is being used with valve off.

With the valve on, it is hard for it to keep pressure.
